Act One Faculty

Kate Harris has a Bachelor of Arts from Webster University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina. In addition to teaching at Act One Studios, she also teaches communications, vocal training for the speaking voice and fundamentals of acting at Northeastern University, Wright College and Roosevelt University. For the last eleven years she had been the Artistic Director for the Pyewacket Theater Company. Her acting credits boast of a number of Joseph Jeffereson nominated shows in Chicago including The Griffin Theatre's The Constant Wife, The Hypocrites Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Stage Left's One Fine Day. Her roles in Pyewacket's productions of The Gardens of Frau Hess and Turn of the Screw earned her Jeff Nominations for Outstanding Actress in a Principle Role. In 2003 she was the Joseph Jefferson Citation Winner for Outstanding Actress in Pyewacket's production of Misery. Kate loves teaching actors new to the profession. She enjoys helping new actors learn, develop and come to love the art of acting.
