"For most actors success is achieved through study, struggle, preparation, infinite trial and error, training, discipline, experience, and work!" [director, writer, teacher Robert Cohen]
All methods of acting training have a common goal – a believable, interesting, unpredictable, dynamic performance. Every system developed by master craftsmen (Uta Hagen, Strasberg, Meisner, Stanislavski, Shurtleff, Michael Chekhov, Spolin, Adler) offers exercises with unique ways of helping actors grow their art and craft. At Act One we use productive exercises from the Masters to help you assemble your unique, individual toolbox, and develop skills which will serve you for work on-stage or on-camera, in auditions and performance.
Your instructors are all working actors and directors. Classes are limited in size to maximize individual attention. Instructors are all committed to your growth and expect students to come to every class prepared to work hard – and along the way they expect you’ll enjoy the process!
"There's fun creating ...magic. Bringing something to life. Being an actor is about creating that magic." [actor Denzel Washington]
